Equilibrium / Infrastructure

Protocol engineering, from architecture to mainnet.

Work with us as an extension of your core team, as a dedicated team responsible for a complete module, or on a focused test, review, or audit. We work across consensus, proving systems, P2P networking, cross-chain messaging, and node software in Rust, Scala, C++, and Solidity—from architecture to mainnet and long-term operation.

How we work.

Selected work.

Build.

Protocol core & node software. Take full-node, validator-client, or light-client work from architecture through mainnet. Scope can include sync, storage, RPC, P2P, consensus, state verification, deployment, upgrades, monitoring, or contracted operation. Relevant work: Pathfinder for Starknet, SnarkOS for Aleo, and Lumina for Celestia.

ZK & cryptographic systems. Take a ZK system from proof-system selection and circuit design through provers, onchain verifier contracts, and offchain proving services. Scope can include soundness checks, differential and conformance testing, performance profiling, and post-quantum migration work. Experience spans Groth16, Halo2, Plonky2, and STARKs.

Cross-chain systems. Start with explicit trust and security boundaries, then deliver the complete onchain and offchain path: contracts or programs, relayers and provers, deployment tooling, testnets, and observability. Relevant work includes the Solana-side Axelar GMP stack and the Celestia–Hyperlane ZK-ISM, relayer, and dispatch service.

Agentic engineering. Move from individual coding-agent use to shared workflows across implementation, testing, review, and documentation—with clear human decision points and measurable quality checks.

Secure.

Protocol testing. Go beyond unit-level correctness with conformance testing, cross-client behavior, and network resilience under adversarial conditions. Relevant work: Ziggurat's P2P testing of Zcash, which surfaced 13 credited vulnerabilities, and Move mutation tooling that measures the completeness of formal specifications and test suites.

Security audits. Review architecture and trust boundaries alongside protocol code, ZK circuits, smart contracts, and offchain services. Cover the interfaces and assumptions between components, not only each codebase in isolation.

Fund.

Invest. Work with an investor that can assess your technology in depth, provide early-stage capital, and support the engineering after investment.

Incubate. Some infrastructure ventures start inside Equilibrium. We fund and engineer them ourselves, then spin them out as independent companies. Zenith, the EVM layer of Canton, started this way.

How engagements work.

/ Engagement model

Team extension, module delivery, or review.

Engage us as an extension of your team, as a dedicated team for a defined module, or for focused testing, review, or audit.

/ Team

Focused, senior teams.

Engagements are led by senior engineers with production experience in the relevant protocol, cryptographic, or systems work. Teams are typically two to six people.

/ End state

Handover or continued operation.

We agree the end state up front: transfer to your team, continued engineering support, or operation under contract with upgrades, monitoring, and incident response.
